This is the signature fundraising event of the Junior League. The event will be held on Sunday, Nov. 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at JetBlue Park, located at 11500 Fenway South Drive in Fort Myers. Each VIP ticket includes admission to Taste of the Town, free parking, unlimited access to the Seminole Hotel Casino Immokalee sponsored air-conditioned VIP tent (air being provided by Unique Air Services), limited catered food “samples” by a few local restaurants unique to the VIP experience, three (3) complimentary beer/wine tickets, complimentary spirit tasting throughout the day provided by List Distillery, complimentary water or Coke products, one (1) free drawing ticket for a chance to win great prizes, a swag bag that includes exclusive offers, shade, relaxed seating inside VIP and access to all areas available to general admission. FORT MYERS, Fla. (Aug 23, 2016) – The Junior League of Fort Myers, Inc. (JLFM) will hold its 34th Annual Taste of the Town on Sunday, Nov. 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at JetBlue Park, located at 11500 Fenway South Drive in Fort Myers.
The Junior League of Fort Myers is thrilled to announce this year’s entertainment at Taste of the Town, headlined by SOWFLO. Don't miss this amazing local band featuring Jake Dorris, Christian Yacono, Daniel Danger, Nick Grim, and Wes Miztelfeld. SOWFLO is an original rock / reggae band from Southwest Florida. After two EP releases and multiple self-booked national tours, SOWFLO has built themselves a growing fan base that extends beyond their native shores of Naples, Florida. Three Crooked Steps is a three-piece band that plays “a little this…a little that.” This SWFL based band originated in 2013 with its versatile veteran members hailing from Florida, Saint Louis, and New York. The main focus of this project is to play a wide variety of music while simply having fun watching everyone sing along as their bodies are in full motion! Strong Side Draw, a local country rock band, will be opening the event. Strong Side Draw speaks to every generation of country music. Established in early 2014, Strong Side Draw continuously impresses crowds with their unique twist on the country rock genre. Seamlessly blending over two dozen hook-filled original songs along with hits from past eras through present day, their stage show is a sight and sound to behold. (Sept. 13, 2016) – The Red Sox Foundation and the Junior League of Fort Myers, Inc. are teaming up for the second annual Best of Taste in the Park fundraiser prior to the 34th Annual Taste of the Town.
During the Best of Taste in the Park, attendees will be able to participate in judging offerings from participating restaurants to decide the “People’s Choice Award” that will be showcased at the annual Taste of the Town. Best of Taste in the Park will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 17 at JetBlue Park, located at 11500 Fenway South Drive in Fort Myers. The event will be capped at 200 attendees. Participating restaurants will host stations offering attendees tastings of their entries which will then be voted on by the public for the “People’s Choice Award.” Dishes entered must be a dish the restaurant will be serving at Taste of the Town. In addition to the tastings and judging, attendees will enjoy complimentary beer and wine, craft spirit tastings, a silent auction with one-of-a-kind items, self-guided tours, raffle prizes and complimentary admission to Taste of the Town on Nov. 6. Tickets for Best of Taste in the Park are $75 each. The deadline for restaurants to participate is Sept. 23. “Last year everyone had a great time and left with full bellies thanks to the delicious food from our participating restaurants,” said Katie Haas, Red Sox vice president of Florida business operations. “Best of all, funds raised from the event stay local to benefit the Red Sox Scholarship Fund in partnership with The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, Inc., as well as the Junior League’s volunteer services and donations to programs supporting women and children in the region.” “The goal of this event is to attract an audience of food connoisseurs and philanthropic-minded citizens who are looking for a unique night out not found anywhere else in Southwest Florida,” said Laura Richardson, chair of Taste of the Town. “This event is a win-win for our local community.” All funds raised at the event will be split between the Junior League of Fort Myers and the Red Sox Foundation to be given back to our local community. Last year’s Best of Taste event raised $13,000.
